My grandfather has passed so i know i need to obtain his birth & death certificate - but i just can't make sense of the info on the net - does anybody know wherthere is some clesr info on what i have to do please??

To obtain dual nationality? You can only do so under the persons of UK ancestry provision which allows you to get a visa to come to Britain and then you have to stay for five years to register or naturalize. It is not automatic UNLESS your parent was born in the UK.
Sorry I do not know how you get the birth certificate but it can't be too complicated, If another answer doesn't say then contact the consulate or embassy for assistance. |

Britain set to abolish ancestry visa
The British government is considering axing the rights of its Commonwealth ancestors to live and work in the United Kingdom.
The visa currently enables anyone aged 17 and over with British grandparents to four years residency with full working privileges.
After four years in the United Kingdom, Commonwealth residents can apply for full residency in the United Kingdom, a path followed by many.
The current system, established in 1972, threatens to be replaced by a points-based system, with tougher restrictions other Commonwealth citizens seeking permits and obtaining British citizenship. |

This is the general records office in UK - you must pay by credit card, and you simply fill out all the details and apply for his birth and death certs. They will be sent to you by snail mail.
They do a very good service. I have used them a few times. |
