Welcome to Pakistan in advance sis. The primary reason i m answering this question is to dispel any myths that might have come to haunt u as a result of reading the ignorant and sarcastic answers above. Lol, dont some ppl love to talk...
Of course, there is a difference in the culture of the two countries, but that doesnt mean u cant adjust over here. In fact I hope that ur new inlaws will be the best friends you will be making instantly.

Just don't be surprised if his kindness and sweetness go away as soon as you'll begin to show some signs of independence, nor be surprised if his family marginalizes or criticizes you for your open minded views. Pakistani are very trivial and tribal in their conception of Islam.
The only type of western woman they can get along with is the one who is converted to Islam (which automatically means accepting their rules and views on the role of women in society), and very submissive. |

My friend's sister did the same thing except she went to Algeria, and guess what less than 2 yrs later shes back in the states divorced. People were not very friendly to her, especially being a white women married to an Arab and she had to take their 14th century customs, which a s a liberated white woman she could not handle. But yeah pakistan seems like a lot of fun for a white American, im sure your going to have a blast out there and make all kinds of open minded fun loving friends! I heard the mosques are the hot party spots on friday nights!! |
