I-551 stamp on passport, abusive husband and divorce question?

I entered USA on immigrant visa and got I-551 stamp on my passport. The marriage was more than 2 years when I entered and we have a kid together. My husband is abusive and I want to live separately with my kid but he doesn't approve it. If I leave and take my baby with me and file for legal protection, considering the fact that I still haven't got my GreenCard in the post, would I be in trouble?
