It sounds, from what you write, as if you left the US 20 years ago and did not return. If that's so, then your permanent resident status expired and you are no longer entitled to it. If you want to go back and live in the US now, you must go through the entire immigration process again - including finding a family member or other entity that can petition for you, and waiting in the queue with all other intending immigrants. |

If you mean you have had one for 20 years and have stayed here in the country you can still make an appointment and go in and renew it. My husband had that problem he was here and had forgotten about it. |
