we are about to leave to mexico in about 3 days and me and my dad have green card but my dad doesn't does he need a passport to enter to mexico?

yes, passport is needed. your green card is only good for coming back to the US. you don't need a passport then. but for going to mexico, then yes, a passport is needed. |

Mexican immigration requires you to carry both your passport as well as your permanent residence card (ie green card) when entering and leaving Mexico. However, US immigration does not require green card holders to present their passport upon re-entry to the US, only your permanent residence/green card is needed. |
