i have been approved for a visa tourist few days ago. is that mean that my my record in the us is clean ? do the embassy even have an access for criminal and warrant check before proving the tourist visa?
please help!!!

you passed the ETSA check for Visa Waiver (Visa Free entry == no Visa)

If you have an actual visa, then the US authorities were happy that whatever was in your past was not a significant issue.

if you just passed the ESTA check,
It talks of upto 48 hrs to return an answer, and everyone I know comes back in seconds... so it may only be a simple criminal check. Many offences are civil ones after all...and these they may not care about or simply not check.

In principle, I assume it knows past records, and yes, currently they approve of your application.
