while travelling in USA i have lost my passport i had f1 visa status.recently i have completed my master's a month back,now i apllied for h1 visa.i want to know what are the consequences i will have to face while living in usa & when i return india?losing my passport will effect my h1 status or not?

Your student status will be completely retrievable to USCIS and to the consular officers back in India. When it started, when it finished, that and other things will all be in the SEVIS database. Mostly, you want to make sure you don't damage yourself by accidently remaining in the US while out of status. One, you wouldn't be able to change status in the US if you are out of status on your student visa, and two, if you are out of status for over 6 months, you would make it impossible to get a visa even if you did return home. I imagine your company has hired an attorney to process the paperwork, you may want to consult him. |

have you not gone to the police station to make a report about your loss? you are not going anywhere if you do not have a passport, someone could be using your passport, report it ;
you need to take the police statement,
contact the embassy / consulate of India in the US, if that is where you are?

no, it will not affect you , but you need to do something about this as quick as you can, |

you are going to have to contact the indian embassy to get another passport made. As long as you have a copy of your F1 visa, and copies of your H1 paperwork, you shoul dbe fine. But make sure that you contact the indian embassy ASAP so they can get you a new passport. |
