Depending on when you are intending on traveling, yes and no. If you travel after November this year, you will be able to visit Switzerland as this is when Switzerland is intending on fully implementing the Schengen Travel arangement. If you travel before this you won't be allowed into Switzerland based solely on your Schengen visa.
However, the UK, along with Ireland, is part of what is known as the Common Travel Area. Unlike the Schengen Travel Area, there is no common visa to travel between the UK and Ireland but there are no border controls. Since the UK is in this area, it has decided not to implement the Schengen Travel arangement. This means that those on a Schengen visa will not be able to visit the UK or Ireland based solely on this visa. However, the UK allows a much wider range of visa-free travel than the Schengen Area does. Due to its colonial past, the UK has strong ties with many countries and therefore offers visa-free travel to citizens of these countries. These countries include almost all of the Commonwealth of Nations plus all developed nations. |

Schengen visa won't do for travel to the United Kingdom and Switzerland as these countries don't belong to the Schengen area.

as of today? neither the UK or Switzerland, have entered the schengen zone,only the EU,
