I lost my passport. What fees are associated with replacing it?

I lost my passport. I know I have to fill out a certain form declaring that I lost it and requesting a new one and stuff like that. I have a couple of questions:
1. What fees are associated with replacing a lost passport? Like, are they the same as if I were applying for a new one?

2. Will I get a new passport number?

in reference to my first answer, it's a US passport which I lost in the US.

You have to fill a new passport Application (DS-11) and a Statement Regarding a Lost or Stolen Passport (DS-64)

The fee for DS-11 processing is $100, being 16 years or older.

Once a passport is reported lost or stolen, it cannot be re-validated. If it should be found later it would have to be destroyed. You'll therefore get a new passport number.
