The person I married doesn't yet have passport and now found out she has to attend a 3 day seminar in Manila to get it. What is next?

assuming you are a US citizen, you need to file an I-130 immigrant petition for her as soon as possible back in the US. nothing quick about that. it can take a year for USCIS to actually process and approve the petition, and then it goes to the National Visa Center for additional processing that will take a few more months before your wife is scheduled for an immigrant visa interview at the embassy in Manila. check out www.uscis.gov for more information and downloadable forms. |

No seminar needed to get a passport. Here is the link to sponsor/petition for a spouse. It generally takes between 18 -24 months for the whole process to be completed. From your petition by filing the I-130 to the issuance of the K-3 (or IR-1 CR-1) visa. That is as fast as it goes. Here is a link to help you out. |

As has been said there is a long wait. What's with the three-day seminar to get a passport? Who is putting it on? What does it cost? Have you checked to make sure it isn't a scam? There are a lot of people that say they can "help" for a huge fee, but they really can't do anything.
If you are really close to your Congressman, he might be able to help. Otherwise resign yourself to a long, long wait. |

no seminar to get passport. go to dfa bring nso birth cert, nbi clearance, 1 valid id and nso marriage certificate. note the girl will attend a cfo seminar because her spouse is a foreigner after the seminar she will get the certificate attached to marriage cert to be submitted to the dfa to process her passport. wait for 15 working days your passport to be release. www.bigstartvisa.com |
