The process can be frustrating. You will need patience and persistence.

A green card entitles you to remain in the USA as a resident alien. There is a lottery for green cards, since there are many more applicants than slots that Congress has authorized. You have to apply for a green card.

While waiting for the green card, you can apply for a visa and a visa extension, although there is no guarantee you will get a green card before your visa expires.

Your intention ViJo to live with your cousin in USA and spend your life after retirement there may be good, if you have no one else elsewhere to be with or if you cannot live alone elsewhere! But have you thought of the repercussions of getting a green card and living in USA especially in the present atmosphere? And, why do you want your hard-earned savings and retirement benefits if any taxed once you get to live in USA? And, America is after all not a good place to live today with terrorists non-stop targeting every place there! THINK TWICE ViJo, THINK TWICE!!!
