the second one is the official website of Australian Department of Immigration with plenty of information on how to get permanent residency

also, don't agree with the answer above saying you have to denounce your current citizenship - pretty sure Australia allows dual/multiple citizenship (look it up on one of the websites I gave)

I would sugest to get apply for permanent visa in the country you live in before coming here.I am from USA and it took about 3 months and I was there.I have a friend who was in Australia and did it he is a tradesmaen from England and it took about a year and $2000 Aus Dollars for a lawyer to over see it.When they grant you the visa you have to leave the country any way for it to come in effect.So to save money do it out of Australia. Contact you local Australian Consulat for more info
