if i may give you some advice ? why can't you marry her in the US ? are you a US citizen ? if so , do it the other way around , first marry her in the states and then go back to her country .......
now here goes the other way :

Always check with your embassy well in advance for up-to-date requirements. Many embassies recommend that you arrange your Hungarian wedding through a professional agency, but here are some guidelines if you choose to do-it-yourself.

Documents

The following documents may be required:
- Passports
- Birth certificates - long form including names of parents
- Evidence of termination of all previous marriages – previous marriage certificates, final divorce decrees, annulment decrees or death certificates
- Certificates of no impediment - issued by embassies in Budapest
- Certificates of single status - issued by registrar offices in home countries

Affidavits of civil status (Tanusítvány) issued by embassies in Budapest are sometimes accepted as evidence of freedom to marry.

All civil documents should be originals endorsed with an Apostille Stamp.

All documents issued in a foreign language must be accompanied by official translations into Hungarian.

For further information, please contact the Hungarian Office for Translation and Attestation:

Országos Fordító és Fordításhitelesítô Iroda Rt.
Budapest 6th district
Bajza u. 52
H-1062 Budapest
Phone: 269 3831 or 428-9601 or 428-9600

Residency Requirement

# All non-citizens planning a marriage in Hungary must reside in the district where the civil ceremony is to take place for at least 30 continuous days prior to the date of the wedding. #

Ceremonies

Only civil weddings are legally recognized. A religious ceremony may only be performed after a civil ceremony.

I think that HJZ has given you all the information that you need. I am a British citizan who married a Bulgarian woman 2 years ago and it was not very difficult. If you plan to live in Hungary you will have to adapt a lot to the local food and customs which can be very different to your own country, having said that I am very happy here and I can visit the UK 2 or 3 times a year.. Good luck with your venture and always follow what your heart wants to do.

I needed the same thing for getting married in China a few years back.
What you probably need for the Hungarian government is an Affidavit of Single Status. Check with the nearest Hungarian Consulate/Embassy (Washington DC/ New York, NY/ Los Angeles, CA) that serves your area. Once they give you the format and information they need for the Affidavit (Never been married / Divorced / Annulments (if applicable)) take the Affidavit to any notary public and get it notarized.

Now for the Apostille. An Apostille is an official declaration that is recognized under treaties and international law that a document and notary are legal and valid. Go to the website for your state's Office of the Secretary of State and print off a copy of their request form for an Apostille. Fill out the form and send it with the original notarized Affidavit /state issued documents and the required fee and your Sec State's office will send it back with a some sort of note that the Notary who notarized your Affidavit is valid (here in Texas it was a letter on Texas State letterhead and actually signed by the Secretary of State).

You can also check the Hungarian Embassy's website at

http://www.huembwas.org/New%20Consular/Consular/Hazassagkulf.htm

They will have all the information you need to marry a Hungarian citizen. Hope it helps

Hola, Apostill i think is a document you get from the Government, when i gotr married in Mexico ( my husband is canadian, ) they asked us for the same document. Anyway at the end we did not need it, but here is a link :

http://www.state.gov/www/authenticate/apostill.html

Sometimes people from the Government are difficult to deal with have a lot of patience. Congratulations by the way!
