my girlfriend and i have been going out for 3 years. i plan on proposing to her this new years. she is an Australian citizen and i am an American citizen. i will be receiving a student visa and entering a post graduate program in Feb 2009 at Southern Cross University, Australia. while on my student visa, will i be able to marry her? are there any fees that i should be aware of? i do plan on working and living in australia but i don't want to lose my american citizenship. what are my options??

is a partner or marriage visa required in my situation? i will already be in the country with a student visa??

The US does recognize dual citizenship so you dont have to worry about loosing it. The only way to loose a US citizenship is to formally renounce it.
