this site should help you finding out everything you need to know. They also have a forum. It will take some time to get an appointment with the consulate in India. That site should have the links to the sites to make an appointment and let you know all of the paperwork that you need to take with you

i cannot tell you the length of time for a visa to the US,
there are alot of papers involved ,
the biggest part and what takes longer is :
You have access to sufficient money to cover expenses of the visit and return passage
You will depart at the end of your authorized stay in the U.S.
you will have to show them that you have strong ties to India , families , jobs to return to , in order for the visa section to believe that indeed you will return to India .
no visa are given quickly .
