Yak got the point. If you don't want to reaquire Pinoy citizenship you still have the balikbayan visa option but after every year you have to do a weekend trip to hongkong or elsewhere near so that you out of country for 24 hours and then reenter and you will get a new one year lasting balikbayan visa

If you go back you are considered a balikbayan and can stay for up to 1 year without a visa. If you plan on staying longer than this you should reacquire your Philippine citizenship so that you'll have dual citizenships.

Reacquiring Philippine citizenship is easy. You can do it at any Philippine embassy or consulate.

Under the Balikbayan Program you can stay up to 1 year without a visa but you need to exit the country after the expiration of that one year visa-exempt entry.

This rule only applies to former Filipino citizens, spouses of Filipino citizens (who are still holders of Philippine passports)
or relatives within the first degree of a Filipino citizen. It does not apply to other aliens/foreigners.

If you have questions, or doubts consult the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate nearest to you.

Depends on what passport you used to enter the Philippines. Was it the Philippine passport or the one with your new citizenship?

You are now an United States Citizen and will be regardless of how many years you live in the Philippines. In fact you can hold a duo citizenship. If, however, you do choose to live in the Philippines for years, please keep your U.S. Passport safe somewhere so that nobody can steal it and know where the United States Embassy is; in case you get into legal trouble.

No it is not allowed, a Filipino citizen who change his status of citizenship and decided to stay for many years in the Philippines is now considered to be an alien accordingly to his citizenship status. If a person who is a Filipino decided to change his citizenship status to an US citizen therefore he is required to stay further in the US not in the Philippines.

I think common sense dictate that since now you have switch to a US passport therefore you are required to be in the US and not in the Philippines, even if the US law is concerned the same policy is implemented. Why did you change your citizenship if you will decide to stay in the Philippines? I cannot find the logic behind the change of status here.

my wife is a US citizen and she was born in the Philippines but she is going to get a Duel Citizenship as she plans on retiring in the Philippines and we have a house in the Philippines already..but I would do this before I gave up US citizenship..but either way I would consult an Immigration Attorney as the laws in both countries are always changing
