Yes the baby will most probably be a US citizen. But if the parents aren't married to each other the father will need to fulfil certain extra requirements before he can pass his citizenship on. You can read more about it here - http://travel.state.gov/law/info/info_609.html :-) |

If either parent is a US citizen especially in US military service, I'd guess yes. |

yes, and they have every right that a person born in the US does. Example- the US has a presence in Germany and occupy land in Germany which makes that basically American soil. However, if the child is born in a German hospital you can apply for dual citizenship. But most likely the child will be born in a military hospital and is a US citizen with no exceptions to think otherwise is ridiculous. All the paperwork to make him/her a US citizen will be completed before you leave the american hospital. |

It would help to know if the US father is married to the mother of that child. Nonetheless, if the child were born in a US military hospital, the child would automatically be assumed born on American soil and a report of birth abroad would be done. The child would have an American birth certificate and passport. If the child were born to an American citizen in a hospital of a foreign country, the father would have to fill out a report of birth abroad at the nearest US consulate/embassy in that country. It could well be, the child will also get the mother´s nationality, depending on the laws in that country.
I myself was born to an American service member in Germany. I have always had the American citizenship. My daughter was born in the Czech Republic and holds American and Czech passports. |

Not all...............
If the US citizen parent failed to report birth to US embassy at the time you were born, you cannot claim US citizenship. |

Yes...and usually the child has dual citizenship too |

He will not be a citizen until the parents submit paperwork for a US citizen born abroad. I know because I had to do that for my son born in South Korea. If a neighbors cow got in your pasture and had a calf would that make the calf yours? I don't think illegal alein babies born in this country should have a automatic birth right here either. Laws should be changed to send them back to the pasture where they belong. |
