a friend has lost her passport abroad and the local authorities have sent her to a temporary prison because of visa over stay after the russian embassy issued her a certificate to return to russia she started to replace all her lost passports , but the police are making it so difficult becuase of what happened abroad and say that she has no wright of asking for another internal passport which is impossible and makes no sense , everyone should have a passport even if he goes to prison , police have taken a lot of rubles and then act as if they do not know her . she is now in dagestan in kizlyar and does not know what to do . i tryed contacting lawyers but there are no lawyers who can speak english that are in this area , please if you have a solution tell me what we can do , it is 2 months now and she is not only loosing hope but also not able to get a job nor recieve money through bank . please this is a serious question so if you are intending to send stupid answers save it .

a country does not lock you up for a lost passport
the only thing i can think of? is, if indeed, you have overstayed on a visa, in a country and perhaps could not pays the fine?still? they would send you back to your original country and you would be forbidden acces for a period of 10 years. |

first off any foreign citizen detained by any foreign law enforcement will notify her country citizenship embassy or consulate, secondly you many contact her her behalf the same authorities unless she is subject to criminal prosecution chances are she will be deported .. third there is more to this story , no country will create diplomatic incident by holding a foreigner incommunicado |
