It all depends on the crime, when it was committed, how old the person was at the time, the type of crime, whether the person was found guilty, what the sentence was, and a few other variables. Some criminal records do not have any bearing on visa issuance, some can be overcome at the US embassy/consulate, some can be waived by DHS, and some may permanently preclude visa issuance. As indicated, it all depends. |

You would need a waiver to get any sort of visa. Whether a waiver is forthcoming depends on the nature of the offense. For serious crimes, generally not. |
