I would have expressed honest and deep compassion for the perpetrators, revulsion and condemnation for what they did, sorrow for the victims, empathy for the survivors, gratitude and congratulations to the rescuers. Then I would have sought the reasons for the act - as the perpetrators saw them. Then I would have explored and pursued the answers to what seemed "justifiable" reasons - and developed cogent rebuttal or answers to the unjustifiable rationalizations. But I wouldn't have shown pitiful infantile ignorance by bleating "why do they hate us" - and certainly not without seeking answers. I wouldn't have started a war on lies, or without deeply considering what could be achieved and where, and certainly not without detailed preparations for what had to come after it. I wouldn't have invited carpet bagger friends into feasting on the carcase. I wouldn't have played cowboy, intoning against some "triangle of evil" - and I certainly wouldn't have referred to any kind of "Crusade". I certainly wouldn't have publicly betrayed, in war and prisons, everything USA purports to stand for. I wouldn't have bankrupted the country with a doomed war, and taking my eye off domestic economics, including the regulation of banks. I would have striven to make USA, and allies, everything that potential enemies could respect and admire. AND I would have focussed on Climate Change as the most vital issue humanity could collectively focus upon, regardless of political and religious differences - so I would have tried to use it to bind humanity together in common cause. But, then, I'm not a Texan. |
