Immigration Lawyer please help?

Hi. i got married in the United States and i am a green card holder for 7 years. I am planning to go back to my country to visit. Unfortunately, my country does not allow anyone to change his or her last name in the papers. I applied for a name change and i was not granted for the same reason that my country does not allow any name change. I carry my husband's last name in my green card. where as in the passport, it is still under my old last name before i got married. I am afraid that i can not enter the US before of the different last name in the documents. What should i do? i asked an immigration lawyer and he did not know the answer. I explained to my country's embassy but they won't allow name change. What should i do? thank you very much for reading. Hope someone knows the answer or where i can get a reliable answer to my question. Thank you very much.

My wife had the same situation. We found out after we had done all the paperwork for the US that her country doesn't allow name changes! She didn't have a problem then with different names on her passport and green card and 27 years later she still has doesn't have a problem with 2 passports (ROC maiden name & US married name).
I have a similar situation. In order to register our marriage I had to get a Chinese name. That's the name on my ARC (green card from ROC). My 2 passports have my Irish name on them. I have never had a problem either.

Don't worry! The customs agents see his all the time (your NOT the first). Bring along a marriage certificate if it makes you feel better but you shouldn't have a problem!

FYI: If you look at our passports you would think that we are 4 different people instead of 2 but we don't have a problem!

Hey, I'm not an immigration lawyer, but I know quite a bit about it. Your requirement to enter your country is only your passport (of your home country) which has your old last name right? Then there is no problems cause you don't have to even show them your green card upon entry. When you go home (say for example Russia) you show the officer your Russian passport which has your old name and that's it, you get it. When you enter the US again, you show them your passport, your green card and your name change certificate and since the US recognizes and understands name change (specially marital name change) they'll let you in. I don't think you have to do anything about it. You're ok as long as your "Russian" passport has your old name on it, and seems like it does since you're not allowed to change your last name in your home country, it would be impossible for you to have a Russian passport with a different name.

If you old passport is still valid then carry you old passport your green card to get back in and you wedding certificate
