My ? If i want to invite my friend to come to America, I sould go to Us. Embussy in America or i should go to Thai Embussy in America? I got the answers yesterday, that i have to contact US. Embussy in America but i don't know where is it in America?

As previously stated, there is no US Embassy in America. The fact is that you don't go anywhere. It's up to your friend to go to the US Embassy or Consulate in their country in order to apply for a visa, but they need to check the website first. You see, most US Embassies and Consulates will not let someone even enter the premises (unless they are American) unless they already have an appointment. Many now are requiring that the applicant apply on-line and then they will have an appointment for an interview.
As far as an invitation letter goes; it can't hurt, but it probably won't help. An applicant gets the visa based solely on their own merits, the most important being that they can show strong ties to their home country and also show that they do not intend to immigrate.
Your letter of invitation, should you send one, should be sent to your friend so that they can bring it to their interview. It is not required to be notarized. This alone shows that it's not that helpful. |

I don't know who said what but all you need is to send an invitation letter to your friend who will show it (together with the envelope with postmark) to the consul during his/her visitor's visa interview. However, this is not a guarantee that their visa application will be approved. FYI, there are no US Embassies in the US.** |

Embassies are based in foreign countries representing your country. Hence, there are no US embassies within the US. All you need to do is to send your friend a letter which states that you are inviting him/her to visit you. You should also state that if the need arise, you will provide financial support and/or shelter. This is just to make sure that they won't be homeless during their stay in the US. When your friend goes to their visa interview, they should take the letter with them proving that they are being invited and have support in the US should they need it. Keep in mind that sending a letter is no guarantee to their getting a visa, but it sure does help. |
