Is a dependent of an A2 visa holder eligible for FAFSA. A2 visa is considered a permanent resident status from what i know.
To make things more complicated what if the student has filed and has reciept for adjustment of status. has submitted i-485 and waiting for the rest of the papers.

OK. so the follow up questions is what if i have already filed my i485 and i already hold an a# /alien number which i think is what is needed for application. my parent is getting sponsored so now does that make me eligible.

Children of diplomats do not qualify as permanent residents. In fact, once they are adults, they have to go home since they are no longer minor dependents of the diplomat. No, you may not apply for financial aid through FAFSA -- that is only for citizens and legal permanent residents.
You will need a foreign student visa, which you will have to obtain in your own country, to attend college in the US, unless you are approved for and obtain a green card prior to entry into school. Who is your sponsor? You have an immediate blood relative who is a US citizen sponsoring your change of status? |
