Is TOEFL necvessary for F-1 visa?

I have already received my I-20 and my confirmation letter from the university.University didn't require TOEFL or SAT from me.They confirmed my admission without these exams.I just wanted to know can i get my visa now without TOEFL.Iam worried about my visa interview.Will the embassy consulate give me the visa without TOEFL?

TOEFL is a school requirement (or not), at the discretion of the school - it is not a visa requirement. However, depending on the scholastic program you wish to enter, your English language ability may be a deciding factor in the visa decision.

You just need to demonstrate that your English is sufficient to carry out your studies in the US (or that the university knows that your english is lacking and that they will bring your english up to speed). Usually the way that a consular officer will determine this is by conducting the interview in English. Some might require the TOEFL but if they are asking for that, just let them know that you are proficient in English and ask to conduct the interview in English.

Yeah.. I think you need Toefl...Its a strong proof that you have the ability ro read, write and speak English which is a positive point..So they often don hesitate to give visa...
