I plan to bring a woman from Bahrain who I believe in my heart to be my soul mate. I have possibly two options at hand. First is obviously the Fiance Visa (k1). However, with all the red tape I would like to know if it would be possible to have a proxy marriage so I can file a petition to bring her here as an Alien Relative. I prefer this method as my research has shown me there would be much less red tape.

In conclusion, is there someone out there who can answer the following question. Is it possible for just a plain ol Joe who is not in the armed forces, resides in the state of Texas to have a proxy marriage? I.E. one of the two parties not able to attend due to geographical location.

Forget it. You'll never fly a proxy marriage past USCIS in a million years. US immigration law forbids it. US immigration law specifically REQUIRES the marriage to be "consumated" and you can't do that by proxy.

No, a common law marriage only works when both of the parties are US citizens.
