You can hold 2 passports, even 2 UK passports if required. They must be in the same name and you must declare the dual nationality when you apply.
"Has the person named had ANY sort of passport, British or otherwise, or been included in any before?"

Remember, always leave a country on the same passport you entered on! |

One thing to think about:
If you travel to any area of the globe that is considered unstable (and thats quite a lot of it) you may be better off travelling on almost any other passport than your British one. For example if you go to Iran looking at Biblical archaeology (unlikely I know) but you would probably be better off doing so as an Irish citizen as opposed to a British one.
In the past when hostages have been taken on aircraft and boats (again VERY unlikely I know but) British and American citizens have been singled out.
Our foreign policy does not make us popular in MANY parts of the world. |

It's legal in this country but always abroad. In Russia, for example, you can't hold a Russian and UK passport. |

Yes it is legal, but this is something that you really need to talk to your local citizens advice bureau or immigration officer about. |

Yes, I have two.
I just make sure that the passport I use is the one for the country I'm entering so customs doesn't get confused. |

You can hold citizenship for one then one country but some countries will not recognise dual citizenship, the US is one of them, China is another.
As an EU citizen you can live where you please in the EU, so where you live shouldn't be an issue.
When you were asked what your nationality was did you write down Irish & British?
If you have two passports, you should travel on the one that's must convenient & if you have the second one on you, only show it when you're asked.
When you fill in one of those landing cards (I can't remember what they're called) fill in the nationality of the passport you're travelling on.
And has someone else has pointed out, you need to present the passport you entered the country in on the way out. |

It depends upon your citizenship. If you are a dual citizen, then you can have two passports, one for each citizenship.
However, most peple only have one because once you say you have dual citizenship, then you should expect to pay taxes in both countries... and most people don't want to pay extra/unnecessary taxes! |

yes you can, my friend has an American passport and Uk, his wife has a Filipino and an American, another friend has Iranian and uk. All this means is you are a dual national and if anything was to happen, you might not be helped by the embassy |

You can legally have one passport per citizenship.
Normally, as an American, you can only have one citizenship. American immigration makes you renounce your old citizenship and give up your old passport, but if you hold duel citizenship, America doesn't have the authority to revoke a foreign passport, and as a citizen you have the right to acquire an American passport and travel as an American. |
