My son was born in the US to a father who is a US citizen and a mother who is a Filipino citizen. The US does not recognize dual citizenship, but the Philippines does. Is my son also automatically a Filipino citizen?

the US does allow dual citizenship;
in order for him to be a Filipino citizen? the mother must declare his birth to the Philippines embassy in the US,
he will need his birth certificate,
the parents,

most of the time, one must be already registered at the consulate, to get consular services ,

Not under American standards. He either needs to be born in the Philippines or live there for a while. |

Hate to say it, but no. To be a filipino citizen, one has to be born of filipino parents in the Philippines.
Yes, it is possible for him to be naturalized (for a bucket of money) but for the rest of his life he would have 'closed doors' for certain jobs.
I happen to have a dual citizenship (Czech and US), live in the PI with my filipina wife. It's easy for me to travel arounr the world, but difficult to make a living. |

He's only a Filipino citizen if you get the forms from the Philippine embassy, or closest consulate, fill them out and submit them to register his birth. |
