Is the American Embassy in London backed up giving visitor visa's? B-2 to the US?

I have read the times on the main embassy page, 38 days for appt and 3 days to process.
My question is:
My friend went on April 6th for her interview.
Everything went fine, no additional processing needed.
They did say it COULD take up to 7 weeks for her to receive the visa in the mail ( she is in the UK).
If it only takes 3 days to process why the "up to 7 weeks"?
Is there a back up?
This is for a Visitor Visa/b-2 to the US.
How long has it taken anyone to get it recently???
We have a wedding to go to and I am hoping she will make it

Yes, I know that, thank you. But that is to GET the interview.
She has already had it last week on the 6th of April.

London is a bit backed up at present. According to the Visa Wait Times section at travel.state.gov:
Typical Wait Time (Calendar Days*) for a Nonimmigrant Visa Interview Appointment
Visitors Visas: 38 Days
Student/Exchange Visitors Visas *** (Excludes: A, G, K, and V): 3 Days
All Other Nonimmigrant Visas: 40 Days

Processing Times
The average visa processing time for successful applicants is five business days, during which time the applicant's passport must remain with the Embassy.
haven't heard of any particular problems with visa processing in London, although if it's taking 38 days to get an appointment date, they do seem backlogged. |
