my dilemma is that like 2yrs ago my u.s citizen boyfriend tried to fix a foreigner's papers for money but this person still lived in her native country. right now everything has been canceled but a couple of months ago I saw a text message from this person on my boyfriend's cell and the text message read: "can't sleep, I miss you" so when I confronted my boyfriend bout this he said that the government looks at everything to make sure there is no fraud being committed so that they had to have some type of communication and to make it look like the long distance relationship was a legitimate one but I find it hard to believe that the government would go to that extremes to look at text messages as a form of correspondence but then again I am not familiar with the immigration laws so I need someone that has either worked with the government or is very familiar with the immigration laws that can help me put my mind at ease since I feel like my boyfriend is not being totally honest with me or maybe someone else told him that they had to have some type of correspondence going, I don't know. appreciate the input

How sure are you that there is nothing going on with them? Text messages are not acceptable proof of correspondence. Anyone can use the phone to text someone. For how will you present a printout of the text messages? If you have a cell phone, can you request a printout of all your text messages? I don't think so. |

Text Messages!?! The US government isnt' that great, most government workers are lazy!
Most likely, your boyfriend sadly... yeah. Lying to the US Government is not a good thing. As long as the other person has legitimate documents, a clean record, and has a reason to live in the US, they can emmigrate without any problems.
Going so far as to fake text messages, it's not like the US Government would ever be able to understand that much from a single text. They'd probably think you were his girlfriend, and never find out there was another person. |
