i am petitioned by my wife who now stays in canada.just recently the embassy in my country asked me to submit my passport.is it a guarantee that i could possibly get a visa then?

There are 2 stages in the petition of a spouse. First is to determine if the sponsor is qualified. Second is to determine if the person being sponsored is qualified too. Verifying if your are who you claim to be. One of the requirements is your passport. Let us just say half of the petition is complete. Just wait.

giving your passport does not mean your visa is accepted,
it is procedure.
