Italian Visa - can i get it in 10 days or less?

I am leaving for UK on Oct 29 and just today received my passport with the UK visa. I plan to go to Italy from Uk and need to get a Italian visa as well. I am a permanent resident of US and hold a passport from Bangladesh
The LA consulate for Italy is closed on Monday so I can only apply on Tuesday. Does anyone know if I can get my passport back by 28th?

From the consulate's website:

It is advisable to apply for the visa at least three (3) weeks (and not more than ninety days) prior to the departure date. During the summer months and holiday periods, a longer processing time may be required. Rush processing is not possible.

Sounds like there's a Bank Holiday in the UK.I'm assuming you're going to Italy for work.If not you'll be able to stay for 60 days without a visa or apply for it when you get there(They won't throw you out if you have applied but if you need to,leave for a long weekend and go back in for another 60 days).That would be the easiest way.

You don't say how long you will stay,or why,and that makes a differnce in answering your question.

It is easier to just fly there and get the Visa.

That is what I do.
