Lost passport, reissuing UK student visa?

I am an Indian studying in the UK and lost my passport in the flight on my way to Hungary to see my family, my dad works there. They let me in Budapest because my dad had additional ID for me. I have given a police report. The Indian embassy in Budapest say that it will take a week or two to get the passport reissued. But I will need to get my student british visa reissued as well. I have to go back in three weeks, how long do you reckon it will take to get the visa reissued? Do I have to go through the application process again?

better yet call UK embassy about your special case...and theyre the one who can give you an exact timeline.. how long everythings going to take..good luck!
