Married to eu national?
Find answers to your legal question.

Married to eu national?

I have been married to an EU national from Slovakia for over 3 years, We both live in the uk, I'm I entitled to an eu passport or some form of nationalisation?

there is no such thing as an EU passport - passports are from particular countries.

You should apply for residency - this is not compulsory but will prove your right to live and work in the UK (you do not say where you are from so I'm assuming not from an EEA country) and is required for naturalisation.

After you have lived in the UK for 5 years continuously you can apply for naturalisation - "Since 30 April 2006, EEA nationals (or their family members) who have been exercising free movement rights in the UK for a continuous period of five years will, at the end of that 5 year period, be automatically entitled to permanent residence in the UK and will not need to obtain indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom before applying for naturalisation."

NB the first answer seems to be nonsense

yea,
but they will first gice you PR and then after minimum 2 years you can apply for eu passport.
but
they will undergo credit check
if there is
huge age diffrance between you and your partner.
Your partner or you had bad credit history, CCJ etc.
if your partner is already arried, divorcee, seperated with children.

in above three situation they will not give you EU passport very easily.

Well you might be eligible to apply for Slovakian citizenship since your married to a Slovakian but there would be some rules and restrictions.

You wouldn't be eligible for UK citizenship because you're not married to a UK citizen and as a result you need to live in the UK for at least 5 years (with the last year holding Indefinate Leave to Remain) to qualify. http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/eligibility/naturalisation/
