Mobile phones in the american embassy?

I am told if I take my mobile phone with me to my visa interview I will have my appointment cancelled. Is this true or is there anywhere to check them in? And if not does anyone know anywhere nearby where I can find storage lockers?

It depends on the embassy. But many have a place to check the phone and pick it up on the way out.

You will not be allowed to take your mobile phone inside the embassy. The same goes for just about all electronic devices. It is purely your responsibility to safeguard such items before entering the embassy. They will not be liable or responsible for your mobile phone safekeeping or loss.

yes mobile phones are not allowed in embassey that's true... and not even coins or sharp edeged keys... in fact. well if you don't have any one whom you can trust try giving it to the security persons who stands outside the embassey so that you can collect it after the interview but as far as I know there is not even a locker they provide i guess. worst case try giving it to shop owners and tell them you would pick it up after the interview....
