I can't find a provision of law and in theory any MP (who need not be a citizen of the UK) could be Prime Minister. However, the British Constitution is unwritten and I believe it would be regarded as unconstitutional for a non-citizen to serve. Unlike the US constitution there is no requirement apparent that requires citizenship at birth.
Of course it might be quite a political challenge to get a party to put forth a foreign born PM. |
