My I-20 has been cancelled do I need a New visa?

Well, the real question is, are you a student, or not? If your I-20 has been cancelled, it certainly doesn't sound like it. If you're not currently enrolled full time in school, then you're not a student, and your student visa will not help you enter the US. You have to have a valid I-20 and be entered in the SEVIS system in order to use your student visa. So, either you'll need to get a different sort of visa to return, or get back into school and get a new student visa with the other forms.

Edit: Well, if you're here now, the question remains, are you a student, or not? If you're not a student, then every day you spend in the US counts against you. If you're in the US without legal status for 6 months, you are ineligible for a student visa or any other visa for 3 years, and if you're time out of status goes over a year, the penalty period is 10 years. You need to straighten this out right away and do whatever you need to do, or you will put yourself in a hole you can't climb out of.

You never said what type of visa you have. I presume that you have an F-1 visa, but it could be an M-1.

In order for you to enter the U.S., the documents you present must be compatible with your purpose and intent. You never said what your intentions are.

If you want to return to the U.S. as a full-time academic student, you will need to present a valid, unexpired passport, a valid, unexpired F-1 visa (which I think you have), and a SEVIS Form I-20 issued in your name by a school approved by DHS for attendance by F-1 foreign students.

George has a good point. It sounds as though you're not a student any more.

Remember, that F-1 visa was only *permission to apply for admission* and not a guarantee that you could stay here.

If you can get a school to help you with your student status (actually BE a student), that has to help. Then you have to see your local INS office and ask for their concurrence to remain here as a student.

If you leave, even though your visa was issued until 2009, you won't be admitted. You already knew that, since you went through the process once already. And it sounds as though you intend to leave, since you're asking about coming back.

Don't leave this country until you and INS are OK with you doing so. Good that you're asking, but you really need INS to help you.

Hi this is Zam . I'm an international student who got one year visa to study english in usa and later get transfered to another College whenever I want. At my arrival I only did one semester instead of 2 coz I didn't find any school for transfer. I was still told to transfer or leave the US on the due date but I didn't coz my visa is still valid. I'm no longer a student but I wanna be admitted by another school before my I20 and visa expires . Q: Is my I-20(right now valid) gonna be cancelled at the time I didn't transfer? My usa visa was cancelled at port of entry,in usa and i was send back to my country same day,so my question now is that if i can use my canada visa in same passport to travel for hoilday in canada?
