I met a friend through the internet. He's from USA and older than me. We've been online together for 2 years now. We now decided to meet up. Despite disapproval from my family, we still want to be together. So we planning that i go to USA and be together with him, and cause i'm only 20yrs old, i myself still want to study. He said he's going to sponsor me in the USA. We'll meet in May soon. My family won't sponsor me of course. My questions are,
1. What if the interviewer ask who gonna sponsor me, what should i say? And if i say my US boyfriend, bet my visa will get rejected cause they would think i go to USA to be with my boyfriend and not to study.
2.To grant the visa, would they check for the approval of my family first?
3. I'm from Malaysia, and from what i know, the success rate of visa interview are higher, for those who apply from countries that have lower/lowest populations students in US schools? Is it true?
4. Would they ask about my family? The relationships between me and my family?
5.How long does the interview gonna take? Approximately/normally?
Please, i don't prefer other advice other than answering the above answers...pls be honest with me...

I'm an international student under an F-1 status. I'll answer the best I can, although my answers might vary because I'm from Canada, not Malaysia.
1. You have to decide for yourself as to whether you want school whether this works out with your boyfriend or not. Try to find backup sources of money just in case things don't go through with him. (You should probably look for scholarships or loans, but I'm not sure what Malaysia has to offer. You might be able to find some American support.)
2. Because you're over 18, as long as you have support, I don't think they'll really care if your family supports you. They seem to only care about the money and if you have it. If you were under 18, of course your family is a factor, but now you're allowed to be on your own and do what you want, despite where your family stands.
3. It seems like the interviewer's purpose is to see where your loyalties to your country stand. I think you should go into the interview proud to be Malaysian. I would assume that their purpose is to weed out people who plan to get to America just to get to America (with no intentions of becoming a student). It would probably help if you say that you are planning to meet someone in America, but whether or not it works out, you plan on studying no matter what.
4. I doubt they would ask much about your family, but I could be mistaken.
5. I actually didn't have to do an interview, but I thought I did, so I researched it but didn't end up taking it.
Please be careful! It can be scary meeting people for the first time, but I trust things will go alright.
