I'm going to Paris next month and need to obtain a Visa, I have a passport and a green card. I know they ask for many documents, one being a letter from my employer stating I work and draw a salary, is there any other type of document they accept in lieu of that, the only reason I ask is because my employer is hesistant to give do to legal issues they stated. Please advise.

I did bring them my paystubs from work as well as my bank statements, but it doesnt seem like its enough

No, the employer letter does matter nowadays. You need to provide proof of continuing employment since you may have lost your job and are planning to stay in France to look for work there (the visa officer may think).
It does not need to state your salary but should include that you are employed as _____, have been granted leave during the period from ____ to ____ and are expected back to work on _____. That would do in connection with your recent payslips and your bank statements showing covering the expenses for your stay ($100 per day).

If you have enough money in the bank then the employer letter doesn't matter. I applied for the schengen visa from NY and got the visa in less than a week. Take all the required documents: travel insurance certificate, bank statement, plane reservation, hotel reservation, passport pictures, passport, green card, pay stub from your job. That's all I had and the visa was issued in 3 days. |
