Need help with K1 Visa!!?

Okay I'm currently looking into applying for a K1 visa for my fiancee. He is in England. I just need to know all of the details that anyone knows.
1. What's the total cost going to be for a) K1 Visa b) Adjust Status c) anything else that goes with it
2. Do I need an attorney or can I do it on my own?? I really can't afford an attorney so doing it alone would be awesome if possible.
3. How long is the whole process going to take from applying for the K1- him being able to come here.
4. Would it be easier for him to just apply for a full visa instead of doing the K1??
5. Any other helpful info :) I really need to know everything layman's terms. I don't understand half of what I've read. Please break it down for me the best you can.

One more question.
If he comes to the US for a visit...just a visit, not on a visa or anything. Can we get married?? I know with the K1 we HAVE to get married within 90 days but if that's all still in the process or whatever can we just get married when he visits and apply for a K3 visa instead???

it is much easier for you to apply for K1 visa. its very easy. the instructions are very simple. if you can read, you will be able to do this on your own. i don't know much it cost, but if you go to www.travel.state.gov, it should be able to tell you everything you need to know. yes he can apply for a visitors visa and yes you can get married if he gets approved for the visitors visa. but after you get married, he still needs to return to his home country and wait for the K1 petition to be approved. first things first, there are requirements that you must do first. 1) prove your relationship with you fiance by going to his country and visit. one way to prove is to take pictures with him and his family. any phone records that you have with him. all this are required upon applying. those are just some requirements that you need to do. good luck. |
