the wait time for an appointment varies from embassy to embassy, but it's usually faster to get an appointment for a student visa. check out the Visa Wait Times in the visa section at travel.state.gov, or look at the website for the embassy or consulate in your country at usembassy.state.gov.

it's different from applicant to applicant and no there is nothing you can do to speed up the process
