Passport Lost in foreign country?

I am an Indian citizen in Canada on Business Visa. I seem to have lost my passport unfortunately.... what should I do? Please help..

Contact the nearest Indian consulate, or the embassy (High Commission) in Ottawa about replacing your passport and re-entry to India.

Local police can't do much for you since you don't know whether you lost/misplaced your passport or whether it was stolen. If you know your handbag, passport, etc were stolen when from where, they could take a report. Indian officials have to cancel the old passport and issue you a new one.

1. Report the matter to police.
2. Apply for duplicate.

1) Report the loss to the local police
2) Contact the Indian embassy as soon as possible. They will assist you in getting a replacement passport.
