Passport - delivery from uk Embassy?

I have an appointment with the Embassy in London to gain a Visa to the USA, if successful they will keep my passport and post it back to me within 7 days along with Visa, only problem I leave for Prague the week after the Interview and I dont think I will receive my passport back by then, I am really panicing and I know its my fault for not booking it earlier.

Has anyone had this problem? and can advise me of the real likely time I will receive my passport? Or can I obtain a Temp Passport?

Looks like someone didn't do his homework. So no passport, no travel to Prague. That is how it goes. Just hope it will come sooner than later.**

You can't get a temporary passport. If your passport isn't returned in time, you simply cannot travel. End of.

If you have a British passport you do not need a visa for the States unless you are travelling there as a student or to live. If you do not have a British passport then you should contact your own embassy in London and ask them whether they can give you a second passport (the British authorities used to do this if you had a good reason but not sure if they still do).

The USA embassy is usually quite quick in returning the passport although they will not guarantee to do it any faster than advertised.

Basically you have to decide whether to attend the interview and risk not getting your passport back and cancelling your trip to Prague or miss the interview at the embassy and forfeit your visa fee.
