Well if your on about the UK passport service and you both have Uk passports it is ideal that you should have your married name on the passport not your maiden name.

The following is taken from the uk passport service website:

1) The name on your passport should always match your legal name. So if your name changes you need to get your passport amended. This is true whether you change your name by deed poll or when you get married or form a civil partnership

2) If you have recently changed your name, or if you plan to do so in the near future, you will have to change the name on your passport if you want to travel abroad.

This means your current passport will be cancelled and a new standard 10-year passport issued. We will credit your new passport with extra time (up to nine months) towards the unexpired time left on your old passport.

3) so much to think about when you get married or enter a civil partnership that amending your passport can easily get forgotten. Some countries may refuse you entry with an unamended passport, even if you carry your marriage or civil partnership certificate. You can check this with your travel agent or at the countryâ€™s consulate, but it is usually best to change your passport in advance.

We can arrange this for you any time up to three months before the ceremony, although youâ€™ll be unable to use your passport until the actual day of your marriage or civil partnership.

4) If you have changed your name already will need to see documents that show the date of and reason for your name change.

For married women we will need to see marriage certificates.

For civil partners, we will need to see either your civil partnership certificate or dissolution certificate.

If you have gone back to your maiden name we will need to see your birth certificate and a signed statement from you to say that you have gone back to your maiden name for all purposes.

In all other cases we need to see your change of name deed. And if you have changed your name more than once we need to see evidence of all changes of name.

5) When you apply to amend your passport we cancel your current passport and issue you a new one. This can mean that visas in your current passport become invalid. Please check with the issuing authorities whether an unexpired visa in a cancelled passport can still be used. If not, you will have to reapply for the visas in question

Who needs to sign it?
Only you*. You do not need anyone else to countersign the form, as long as your appearance has not changed and your passport is not lost, stolen or damaged.

It should be signed at section 9 with your new name, even if you are waiting to get married.

Unfortunately this means you will have to buy a new passport..you will be issued a new 10 year passport with the same name.

You can use the 2 week check and send service from a post office but it does not guarantee that it will be back in two weeks. This costs Â£72.

If it is more urgent then you may decide to ring them up for a guaranteed 1 week fast track service. This costs Â£97.

If you are applying at a passport office, you must make an appointment by calling us on 0870 521 0410. A Premium same-day service is only available on weekdays if you make an appointment before 16.00 in London, 13:30 in Liverpool, 13:00 in Peterborough, 12:30 in Glasgow and Newport and 12.00 in Belfast and Durham. On Saturday, the Premium same-day service is available for appointments before 11.00. The waiting time for your passport will be four hours once the application has been accepted and a receipt supplied by the cashier.

- It is not required to change anything as you have valid merriage certificate, however, It is good idea to change your wife's passport which has your name.
- In some countries, they check passport name.
- It is not required to change your passport rightnow, but change it at the time of next renewal

In your case,
- Please contact respective embassy with your details. You can tell them regarding the documents avaiable with you which can prove your marriage.

If you find time, get an appointment with the Regional Passport officer (your region ). Meet him , explain to him and
show all your papers including marriage certificate and your
employment confirmation letter etc., He can consider issuing a new passport to your wife adding your name as surname.
Passport office write down your wife's name ( as spouse)
and endorse it. It won't take much of time, if you ask for a
Thakkal demand and pay the fee,

Even otherwise you can travel with yours and your wife's passports, if you have a visa issued to your wife.
You can show your marriage certificate in case of necessity.

Hi my brother got job in Singapore.He need urgent passport but he cant able to apply tatkaal because of proofs.so he applied in normal on april 21st it will come on july only but he wants his passport within june so now please tell me possibilities to get passport quickly.please tell me its very urgent otherwise he loses hs job.
