My friends son damaged his USA passport, they said she needs notorized authorization from his father to get it replaced but his father is in another country where notorization costs $150 is there a way around this as I don't have $150 and I want to travel in 2 weeks.

she has an appointment for next Tuesday, they said if she can prove she is travelling in less than 2 weeks they will issue one that same day, I have also sent her an urgent invitation letter as I hurt my back, still working on the notary though, although visiting the USA embassy in London sounds a good option.

Try to work through the US Consulate in the country his father is in. Maybe they can take a verbal attestation as long as the father is willing to have the passport renewed. |

Yes the law is to prevent one parent from taking kids out of the country without the knowledge of the other. Good law |

The father can go to any US embassy or consulate and get a document notarized for far, far less than $150. On top of that, you aren't going to get a passport in 2 weeks. |
