Regarding B1 Visa(I94 expiry)?

I came to US on Business Visa on 07 Nov 08 at port of entry they provided an exit date of 07 Feb 09. I applied and got Mexican Visa(Business) since i need to make business trips to Mexico for the same project.
Now my schedule has got changed and i have to stay back in US till april 09, during which i got to travel to Mexico every month for attending trainings.
So without extending the B1 visa can i stay in US, since during reentry, from Mexico, I94 will get updated right??
The option of converting B1 to L1 is still there??

You cannot go to neighboring countries like Canada and Mexico to get a new I-94. You will need to travel out of North America. You will need to apply for an extension. Usual extension is about 6 months. You will have to prove the reasons for the extension. Apply 4-6 weeks before the expiration date.
