Should we (americans) write the British embassy?

Fox News ran a story last night about Pres. Obama and the British Prime Minister's exchange of gifts. After finishing the report they gave the British Embassy's address and asked that the American people send apologies for the President's "gifts". Were they kidding or serious? You have to admit, even for those of us who are Democrats and voted for Obama, this incident is inexcusable. (I'm not trying to attract flamers or start something here, I'm just asking a question.) =)

Buddy- I thought the same thing about the dvds. Obviously he's never tried to play an imported game or watch an imported dvd on his machines. Lol

You (America) gave our (Britain) Prime Minister a present that reflected your culture. We gave you one that reflected ours. We are just glad that our head of government got to meet your new president before any other head of government.

He can watch the DVDs on a multiregion player.

Our presents to you, of a pen holder and a seven volume biography, weren't exactly great. The diplomats who select these presents look for symbolism not something the receiver will enjoy. I imagine that Obama's team felt that a selection of DVDs (new format) of films from across modern history (heritage) was a good symbolic gift. And I imagine Brown will enjoy the DVDs if he gets the time a lot more then Obama would if he had the time for the seven page biography of Churchill.

I am 100% positive that we, the American people, owe the British an apology for our Dear Leader's gift-gaffe. Obviously, our Dear Leader is lacking in the social graces. This gift-gaffe just proves that a low class individual remains low class even when imbued with money, power and prestige. Perhaps our Dear Leader will learn from this and refrain from giving a ham to the Israeli Prime Minister.

If you want to go for it, it is a personal choice. I saw the same thing last night on Glenn Beck, I don't think it would hurt if you did, might not help much either. I think that the gift would have been better if the P.M could actually watch them in his dvd player, since the U.S and U.K have different formats.

I can't believe we dissed the British like this. I am so embarrassed to call myself an American when our leader proves himself inept. We can't afford to burn any more bridges in this world.

I already wrote them, without asking anyone if I should. To me there was no hesitation whatsoever. There is no excuse for any of Obama's behavior, and this is no exception. I guess he needs a teleprompter to be able to do anything-- even think.

I didn't write to the Embassy, though, I wrote to England, in England... it took awhile to find an email address but it was worth it and just again, if any English are reading this, my sincerest apologies. Obama does not represent all of us Americans, and certainly not this one!
