The White House also contains a private residence as well as several areas in which foreign dignitaries are entertained. They are all adults. I think your question is ridiculous. You are actually suggesting we take away their rights as adults.
Get a life. |

President Bush quit drinking 30+ years ago.
At least 12 years before you were probably born. |

The White House is a public building. However, it is also the President's home, and where formal meetings and international relations are forged with other nations. Thus, it is not only proper to have alcoholic beverages there, but recommended.
In a State dinner, wine and champagne are the most commonly used beverages, but you also find other drinks including tropical beverages.
I do understand your point, prohibiting alcohol in the White House would really be something interesting. Imagine the President having to hold a State Dinner at the Royal Astoria. Then we would jump to criticize him for the expenses. (It would be more expensive than holding the dinner at the White House). |

No, we should not do this.
We have been too focused on banning things in the US lately, we need to take a step back and ask ourselves if banning the things that people obviously like so much will really do any good. Murder is banned, and nothing seems to stop people from partaking in it. Why would drinking at the white house be any different? Who's going to enforce such a ban? |

Totally agree. At least it should be banned before any important meetings and decision-making. Some of the residents being the liars they are, it probably is a good idea to give everyone a breath-analysis test before they are allowed to enter the meeting room. |
