What should I bring to the Consulate when I go to register my baby for her US citizenship?
I have some old W-2s, my college degree (2001), my high school year book, a receipt showing I bought a car in 2003,a plaque showing I was employed at a school for 5 years, etc. etc.
Will that be enough.
I'm the father married to a non US Citizen, by the way, so that's why I apparently need the documentation.
Has anybody else gone through this process and is it that involved?
I'm in Mexico, by the way.

Well, I got the high school transcripts--1990-1993 + the yearbook (senior year)
I've got several drivers licences (96,02,07)
I've got some college ids
I've got pay stubs from 96-99
I've got W2s from 2001 to 2006
I've got bankruptcy forms (2001)
I've got my first marriage certificate (97)

W-2s would show that you were working in the US during the period that they cover-- the high school year book would only show you were there for part of one year-- transcripts would be better. The college degree would only work if you had transcripts, too (I did one of my undergrad years in Switzerland, for example). Both your high school and college would probably be willing to fax you 'unofficial' copies, or (for a fee) mail you official ones. The plaque probably wouldn't help much, since you could go out and have one made and put any years you wanted on it. Rent receipts, your driver's license, and utility bills would help. The receipt for the car only means you were there the day you bought it-- if you immediately drove it back to Mexico and licensed it there, it won't help.. |

do you have any bank activities to show? such as checks that you would have written? bills that you paid? elec.grocery,home gas,restaurants..clothing,
it might help? i know it is far back, but in case you kept your old bank statements?
doctors visits and prescriptions?
car maintenance?
was trying to think of other things along with your list and one above..
credit cards receipts for the state where you lived.
W2a forms? can be filed by anyone,even if you were out of the country,
it would not prove your presence in the US,
