UK born Australian... Passport options?

hi, i was born in the UK (Scotland) in '85 to a Scottish father, and an Australian mother. We came to Aus in '90 and have since become citizens (my father included) My question is, am i able to travel within the EU on a British passport which I obtain through the consulate here in Aus? Or do i have to travel on my Aussie Passport?

thanx in advance

You are a dual national for life, and so are any children of yours wherever born (but not your grandchildren, unless born in Britain or with a British-born parent; although such grandchildren will have the right (as Commonwealth citizens with British-born grandparent) to live and work in the UK.

You are a Euroean Union citizen. With your British passport you can live and work anywhere in the EU/EEA/Switzerland (some conditions apply -- but not for ordinary travel).

I understand Australia has relaxed restrictions (never a total ban) on dual nationalty that it once had. My daugher's bf is a British-Australian dual national.

Yes get both, Australia allows dual citizenship.
It's so cool to be able to line up with the Brits when going through immigration in the UK and then lining up with the Aussies when going through immigration in Australia. The lines are always shorter for the returning citizens than they are for foreigners!

The UK allows dual citizenship. I don't know about Australia. In any event, you should be able to obtain a UK passport, which will enable you to travel within the EU and elsewhere.

Scotland is part of the UK so you don' have to differntiate.
Australia and the Uk both recognise dual nationality. Therfore you can use either passport anywhere. Obviously you would use the Australian ppt to enter and exit Australia and the UK one to enter and travel in the UK or Europe. this saves on visas.

Yes, you definitely can. Make sure you enter the UK on your British passport.
