UK visa for children with dual citizenship?
Find answers to your legal question.

UK visa for children with dual citizenship?

I have 2 children under 16 years old (can't apply for immigration without parental consent) and live in the UK. We first came here in 2004 with their american passport and I did not request a Visa because I was waiting for their French birth certificate (Proof of EU citizenship). I now have those and felt that nothing needed to be done since I have this proof they are EU. Recently someone told me that because of their American passport versus a French one I still need to apply for immigration. I am scared to go in person to the office of immigration and to find out that they are here illegally!! I tried to call the Home Office but they told me to call EU immigration and gave me the wrong number. Anyone knows where and whom I should call to get this information verified? (and if this is correct of course)
Additional Details
Actually if you see what I wrote I do not know if they are legal here! this is my all question. I have tried to contact the french embassy already but that s an all other story and to make a long story short I can't obtain a french passport at this time... although I am working the legal way through this what I really need to know is if my children can legally stay in the UK with a proof of french citizenship even though they came with an american passport - Sorry if this was unclear before

As long as the children are legally in the UK as US citizens they are OK. There are advantages in being recognized as EU citizens with EU passports, so go ahead and apply for French passports for them. Once you have these you may wish to register them as French rather than American residents of the UK which would enable them to stay even after the visas they have as US citizens run out. Of course there may not be automatic French citizenship just because they were born in France. You'll have to check this with the French Embassy or Consulate. In any case that should be your first stop.
